So it begins!
As the title states, our grand adventure into Alpacas has already begun. Having done things a bit backward and out-of-order we have already purchased our foundation herd. We have no shelters, nor fencing, nor supplies, just the prospect that at the end of April 2009, we will have 5 wonderful creatures on our property enjoying the County life!
Our things to do list thus far:
A peak at what's to come!
- Finalize the paddock layout (we’ve done 40+ potential plans on graph paper)
- Source the fencing materials (clean the garage to store it all)
- Fence raising (perhaps a good 1st event,
) - Finalize shelter design (done dozens of these too)
- Source shelter materials and build them (good 2nd event?)
- Source ‘The Rest’ (suitable local hay, alpaca supplements, halters, buckets, platform & hanging scale, shearing table, leads, vet supplies, rakes, shovel/scoop, …)
‘The Rest’ seems that there will be no rest for us this spring, and we hope you bookmark us and come back often to check out our progress… and keep an eye out for our events!
